Meet Cameron-Brooks Team Member Lauren Kordzik

Each employee of Cameron-Brooks has a heartfelt interest in the success of every JMO and every employer. We all consider teamwork an essential part of the process of turning candidates’ career dreams into reality and exceeding client expectations. That’s why we’re excited to launch a new series introducing our team members to you. Meet Cameron-Brooks team member Lauren Kordzik with our Client Services Team.

Meet Cameron-Brooks team member Lauren Kordzik with our Client Services Team Lauren Kordzik’s career with Cameron-Brooks began in 2011 when she was hired to be the assistant to then-CEO Rene Brooks who, along with Roger Cameron, founded the JMO recruiting business in the late 1960s.

We recently interviewed Lauren about her start at Cameron-Brooks, how her previous experience helped her in her subsequent roles with us, and about her advice for JMOs making their transition to Corporate America.

How did your background prepare you for the work you do with Cameron-Brooks?

I came to Cameron-Brooks from the FBI, where I was able to address significant issues, but on a personal, human impact level. I find that Cameron-Brooks similarly provides me the ability to provide value on an individual level by fostering healthy relationships with both candidates and client companies. My background helped me learn the importance of developing relationships and understanding the needs of others before acting. In both the FBI and at Cameron-Brooks, I am able to positively affect others through my work.

I have found these words, written by Ralph Waldo Emerson, to be true in my own life:

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”

What’s your favorite part about working with Cameron-Brooks?

My job allows me to learn about virtually every industry, and different roles and people, each day. It’s never stagnant. I enjoy building genuine relationships with clients and candidates alike.

What’s your best advice for JMO candidates making the transition to Corporate America?

One piece of advice my straight-shooter father gave me that constantly crosses my mind is to, “Put your head down and get to work.”

Our client companies hire JMOs for their leadership skills rather than their functional expertise in a given industry. The most successful alumni couple their strong military career foundation with grit and determination to succeed in a new environment – in other words, they put their heads down and get to work.

How do you and the Client Services Team select the client companies who work with Cameron-Brooks to find top JMO leadership talent for their companies?

Clients come to us via a few different avenues:

  • Cameron-Brooks has long-standing relationships with companies (some of these relationships have spanned 40+ years!) that continue to turn to us to hire high-potential junior leaders.
  • Cameron-Brooks alumni contact us throughout their careers, sometimes bringing their new company to us as a client.
  • Successful JMO hires catch the attention of hiring managers, so the interest grows organically within different departments of the same company.

We focus on high quality and excellence in everything we do at Cameron-Brooks. In fact, these words (high quality and excellence) constitute our first company value, and we demonstrate it through active listening, attention to detail, and hard work that creates results for both our candidates and client companies. This allows Cameron-Brooks to stand alone in the recruiting space, and naturally creates demand from our client companies.

Meet Lauren Kordzik with the Cameron-Brooks Client Services TeamTell us about your passions outside of the office.

My husband is a rancher and we have three children so we spend a lot of time outdoors with our kids and with our cows. I also enjoy cooking, CrossFit, and church activities.

Where would you like to travel to one day?

Israel. What an incredible opportunity for a spiritual pilgrimage and to deepen knowledge on historical archaeological sites. I would love the opportunity to learn more about one of the most complex regions in the world.

As a key member of our Client Services Team, Lauren works closely with Chuck Alvarez, our company President, as well as our client companies across many industries, ensuring we provide the highest quality recruiting services to their organizations. Lauren attends all our hiring conferences and works very closely with candidates and companies in the follow-up process. Be sure to say hello to her at the next Career Conference you attend!
