Mindset Brings Opportunities: June ’23 Career Conference

As I write this blog post, we are just two days away from kicking off our third Career Conference of 2023, where the right transition mindset brings opportunities.

The latest May Labor Report was just published this past Friday, and you can read that report here.  Unemployment climbed a little to 3.7% but still is historically low.  As we put the finishing touches on the June Career Conference, I can say with certainty there are definitely companies hiring, but there is variability in certain industries and markets– some are hiring, some are holding off.  We are definitely seeing this across our client companies, but it is absolutely possible to make a successful transition. There are great opportunities for JMOs, provided you are well prepared and have the right mindset!
I expect the average number of interviews for the June Career Conference to be ~10.6 interviews per candidate at the June Conference,  which is 1.2 interviews higher per average than the April 2023 Career Conference, so it’s looking good.  We are also expecting 30 distinct companies and nearly 40 hiring groups to attend, with the vast majority of the recruiters being the hiring managers.
I will also say that candidates who are willing to be more open on career fields and geography requirements will have more interviews and maximize the opportunity to do a strong career search and fully explore their marketability.
As I’ve said in other blog posts, those that are going to be more myopic with their strategy in terms of geography, etc., will most likely struggle in this economy.
In the end, transitions are about making strategic investments– find excellent opportunities to get your foot in the door in a great company and then navigate your career development/geographies from there. Having an investment mindset brings opportunities.
