The August 2013 Career Conference

This weekend the Cameron-Brooks team and our August candidates will arrive in Charlotte, NC to kick off our fourth Career Conference of 2013.  We continue to see strong demand from our client companies looking for standout, well prepared JMOs.  Once again, the August Career Conference is looking to be another strong one and for those attending the November Career Conference in a few months, all indications look like it will be a great Conference as well.

One of the most common things we hear from our client companies is they are looking for people who can inspire others and catalyze action; in other words people who can make it happen and get it done.    This is demonstrated in part by your objective background in the positions you’ve held, your accomplishments and how you impacted your unit or organization.  But, this is also demonstrated in your energy level and attitude during the interview itself.   You can have strong objective assets but if you communicate with low energy and enthusiasm it can hurt you and get you ruled out.  Please understand my point here.  I am not suggesting that you blow the interviewer out of the room by being over the top, loud volume in your voice, etc.  What I am saying is your energy level is displayed in the way you make  eye contact with the recruiter, a good firm handshake, using inflection in your voice, smiling when appropriate, using first names, etc.  Your energy level is also a direct correlation to how prepared you are.  It comes from the confidence that you have practiced your answers and are ready for any questions the recruiter may ask and delivering your answers in a way that is natural and authentic and not canned or forced or monotone.   So for the August Candidates that are reading this, keep practicing your answers and be ready to interview with good energy and a great attitude.

Sample industries for the August 2013 conference include: Consulting, Medical Device, Consumer Products, IT, Health Care, Pharmaceuticals, Construcition, Financial, Industrial, Oil & Gas Exploration, and more.  Sample companies include: Johnson & Johnson, ExxonMobil, Ernst & Young, Koch Industries, ALDI, Inc., Cintas Corporation, Covidien, Gallo Winery, HCA Healthcare, Wal-Mart, Eli Lilly and Company, Kraft Foods, Mars, Inc., and many more.

Sample positions include: Quality Engineer, District Manager, Field Clinical Specialist, Senior Project Engineer, Manufacturing Supervisor, Senior Consultant, Operations Manager, Risk Analyst, Information Technology Leader, Procurement Leader, Business Unit Manager, Brand Management, Distribution Operations Manager, Area Sales Manager, Property Management Senior Associate, Project Manager, and many more.  As we have seen from our earlier 2013 Career Conferences, we expect the average number of interviews will be 12+ per candidate.

We are excited to be partners with our August Career Conference candidates and look forward to helping take this important first step in their transition to Corporate America.  Next week, I will write a post on the results from the August 2013 Career Conference.
