Making Contributions on Your Team
I follow a few different blogs and came across a great post from Michael Hyatt recently. We have previously referenced Hyatt’s blog on the Cameron-Brooks blog here. Michael is the former Chairman and CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers, the seventh largest trade book publishing company in the U.S. He is the author of Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World, he created and writes a blog focused on Intentional Leadership and also hosts a podcast called “This Is Your Life.”
Earlier this week, Hyatt wrote a blog entitled, “How to Become the Most Valuable Player on Your Team.” In it, he outlines seven great tips that will help you be a more effective leader and give you opportunities to further develop the teams or projects that you lead.
The interesting thing about Hyatt’s list is that most of the points he makes will likely come up in many, if not every, professional business interview you will have, should you decide to transition from the military. I recommend you measure yourself against each bullet on his list – it should serve as a good litmus test regarding what you are good at and what you want to get better at.
You can find the blog here.
