January 2011 Cameron-Brooks Conference Results

We completed the January 2011 Career Conference this past week.  44 candidates and 21 spouses and support team members attended the Conference, and all candidates have multiple companies pursuing them into the follow up process.  The candidates interviewed with an average of 13 companies and averaged 8 companies pursuing them for a 60% pursuit rate, a very successful Conference.  The entire Cameron-Brooks team congratulates the January Conference candidates on a major step in their transitions.

Corporate America represents a $13 trillion market and there are a multitude of ways to start a career in the business world.  Because of this reason and that we recognize all of our candidates are unique, Cameron-Brooks represents a wide variety of industries, companies and positions.  We believe in conducting a broad career search to allow a candidate to make a good career decision and a wide variety of companies attended the January Conference, allowing our candidates to interview with numerous companies and evaluate their options.

Currently the unemployment rate is 9%, down from 9.8%.  The unemployment rate for those 25 years or older and with a college degree is at 4.8%.  So, we are seeing some positive trends in the economy for those that have a sound career search strategy and are well prepared.  Our client companies need strong leadership and they think strategically and long term.  This is why we had over 30 companies attend the conference and sizes ranged from a company with 40 employees to one with 2 million+ employees.  Privately held and family owned companies attended as well as some of the largest companies on the Fortune 500 list.  Additionally, we are very fortunate to have thousands of alumni working in key leadership roles in Corporate America, and these alumni bring their organizations back time and again to Cameron-Brooks Conferences to hire high potential candidates.  In fact, we had 28 alumni attend and recruit for their company at the January conference.

Industries included global consulting services, bio-pharmaceutical  manufacturing, industrial coatings, logistics, consumer products, telecommunications manufacturing, mining and construction, medical device, oil and gas exploration and production, solar energy, engineered industrial products, power distribution, risk consulting, industrial gases and delivery systems, and financial services.

Job titles included Senior Manager, Field Clinical Representative, Six Sigma Blackbelt, Reliability Engineer, Area Operations Manager, Process Engineer, Project Engineer, Procurement and Material Management Supervisor, Maintenance Engineer Manager, Total Productive Maintenance Supervisor, Senior Consultant, Clinical Sales Representative, Project Manager, Commercial Manager, APAC Training Manager, Production Supervisor, Electrical Construction Specialist, Senior Operations Center Specialist, Corporate Trucking Operations Manager, Associate Brand Manager, Application Engineer, Senior Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor, and Transportation Manager.

In the next blog post, I’ll discuss some of the candidate lessons learned from the conference.  In the meantime, to learn more about the Conference experience, I’ve included a couple of videos from candidates who attended the conference.  You can see more videos like this by visiting us on our YouTube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/user/TheCameronBrooks and our Facebook.
